Trigger Happy

I used to try and be discerning. Carefully selecting pictures that would show Bertie in all her glory, pictures that were lovely and whimsical. But sadly we've got a new a camera and so to salve our consciences about our reckless consumption and further contribution to the interminable hegemony of end stage global capitalism we've taken about a million pictures in the last few days and instead of choosing we've gone all Damien Hurst and mass produced and spanked them out everywhere.  But hopefully not as generic or as profoundly dull as that particularly YBA.

There are seventeen pictures below. And trying to choose one not to publish is trying to decide who out of Bill Murray or Steve Martin you'd take as you luxury item on Desert Island Discs. Clearly Murray. Although, if Martin could reclaim the form he displayed in the Jerk it's anybody's game. Anyway I digress, the last month have seen Nellie discover many many things. Like taking anything you give her and trying to eat it. Or trying to eat her own hands. Or fingers. Or your fingers if you leave them too close to her mouth. Or any toys within her sausagey grasp. Her dedication to tongue exploration is a joy -  a sort of slobbering Shackleton. Sat on her bottom lip is a constant little bubble of saliva which I'm sure she uses as a sixth sense, sending it swinging out of her mouth like Spiderman to decipher the world around her -  it could make an excellent super power methinks. I've already got the film rights so don't even try it. Suckers.

Given her oral fixation we've crossed a baby Rubicon, E.H Carr be damned this is jolly important, as we decided to feed her up. Baby rice was her first meal - the poor sod. A sort of primordial slime which negates flavour but despite that it seemed to go down rather well. And all over her face equally well.

Also, amongst the pictures of her feasting there is a lovely picture of her father looking like he'd indulged himself with some of Afghanistan's finest purest smack. Can you tell which it is?

This Spoon best be edible.

Note the dainty, tapered wrists
