Dog and Duck

Beano is an accidental Platonist, for she to believes in the tripartite division of the world, arguably she would fall into the appetitive category under the Platonic schema due to her love of guzzling food, her dividing lines are far less esoteric than that of Plato, but no less profound. For Nancy the world consists of three things: gok, dog and duck which can be interchanged at her leisure. The last two words are hallmarks of a classical education and her over exposure to one of the finest pillars of the English establishment - the public house. If her next two words are red lion or jon snow then we will know full extent of those misspent fridays with her father in boozers across London.

To maximise the impact of this limited vocabulary comes a most excellent point. From her chubby inverted knuckles an outstretched index finger cuts through the ether to illustrate that something is needed or to point out to her parents that a gok, duck or dog is in sight and we should be aware of this. When the situation becomes particularly pressing she can deploy both her index fingers into a Usain Boltian style double point to underscore the seriousness of her desire for something to be handed to her. And if you are really like if you ask her "Nelly where is your belly?" she will lift her dress and slap her joyous protuberance while giggling like a maniac.

Beano is also demonstrating greater and greater physical dexterity - she managed to mount the bottom stair somehow before toppling off into a full blown jihad. More problematically she can haul herself up in her cot to a sitting position which means getting her to sleep can be a little more challenging than before and on occasion she can be found sleeping in positions that would seem to be idiotically discomforting. Even more disconcertingly when she wakes in the morning you can stroll into her boudoir and she can be found sitting at the foot of her cot gently wailing. Amazing.  Terrifying.

And her she is in all her glory. And it is a most lovely gloriousness.

High five?
