Animal Magic

"Daddy, do you want a sticker when you've finished poo-ing?" "Daddy, I've got three stickers as I did a poo, a wee and a massive fart" "Daddy, I've wee'd in the green, can we show Mummy?" I'm sure you've detected the subtle scatological thread that link these quotes - Nancy is in the midst of potting training. In fact that is slanderous, she is potty trained by and large. Potty training in certain respects like being part of alcoholics anonymous, as you proudly tell friends that Nancy has been dry for a week an a half. Obviously, the analogy falls down on the anonymous part but you can't have it all. The rest of it makes you rather Germanic, as you find yourself looking down into a plastic pink bowl into your daughter has just defecated and hollering and shouting like a deranged southern Pastor all to reinforce her mastery of her own bodily functions. Very odd. But god willing she has mastered it well and the days on sinking endless piles of cash on nappies should be behind us. Huzzah.

What else to report? She can talk. No longer is she searching for the means to communicate but instead thinking about what she would like to pronounce on next. And when she gets going it is very hard to stop her. Very hard indeed. Unless you give her food, which remains her premier pursuit. She can easily take three bowls of shreddies for Breakfast and then you are expected to volunteer your bowl to ensure that she doesn't waste away. She is not a baby she is food eating machine. Arrr.

Oh and Christmas. She is outraged that Father Christmas is not visiting again for a whole year. It is outrageous. She is trying to get me to write to her MP. In short she is rather a fan. Many readers of this blog contributed to her enjoyment with some delightful presents to which we say thank you thank you thank you (cards will arrive in due course).
