Half term high jinks
Well it's the last day of the month and I'm say in the dark trying to get the two thimblefowls to bed while trying to remember what has happened in the last thirty days that is worthy of immortalising on the internet.
Firstly, after the maddening non cycling of last month Nancy is back in the saddle and can safely navigate her way to and from school with alacrity and skill. This morning I managed to catch her chin in the clip of her helmet which meant that a hitherto serene school drop off shifted into the jihadi faster than you can say Mosul. That said, she rode home so it's is safe to say that she won't ever forget again. Huzzah.
We've also meet her teacher, miss Yong, who is deeply happy with her progress to date but that her logic and rhetoric could be improved. I could have told you that but halfway through the Michaelmas term and she seems to be doing fine. Maybe even well. In fact two weeks ago we spent 4 hours gardening at school and she was stalwart and yesterday she spent half the day in her school uniform. The whole school is horrible thing has yet to set in which is helpful despite my efforts to douse her fire with an inspirational potted history of Martin Luther king and the civil rights movement. This started with the Bible, moving through Darwin and racial theories of supremacy, Jim crow and the impact of ww2 on black perceptions of how their lives could be different. It was like a 5 minute episode of in our times.
By the end she was a bit lost but did perk up when I mentioned he was on YouTube. The ingrate.
Despite the odd moment of behavioural horror she remains a well tempered thing but occasionally the mask slips and all bets are off. Luckily her father exudes a quiet authority that renders these incidents immaterial. That and her mum being the hammer.
Enjoy. I'll actually upload pictures this time too!
