A Proud father gushes (I can only apologise)

Nancy has this very day finished her first year at school. Indeed she graduated on Wednesday, complete with mortarboard and scroll. If you wonder why the UK demeans technical education and glories in academia, this type of thing must go a long way to explaining it. However, given events of recent weeks its best not to dwell on the state of education in this country.

This month I'm going to give over this blog to a third party. Not to Nancy, which has oft been promised, but instead to her incomparably wonderful teacher Mrs. Kidner. And while at the outset of this project, to use the language of contemporary football managers, I said that I wasn't become one of those unbearably proud types who exalts in the unique glory of their own progeny and instead focus on my own unique brand of guff, you will have to forgive for just one
moment. A brief moment of exaltation and pride among the spannerations and lewdness that this blog is an aggregation of. I give you Nancy's school report. Some of it might be made up. But the vast majority is Rankean in its truth.

"Nancy has had a fantastic year in Reception. While her Latin declensions still leave a lot to be desired she has gained confidence in her abilities and has made good friends in her class. Particularly, young Higgins.

Nancy enjoys logic, rhetoric, playing and exploring in all areas of the curriculum and likes to try a wide range of the activities on offer, She is just as happy working independently as she is alongside her friends. Nancy is very creative and she uses the resources on the escritoire and creative table to produce imaginative and beautiful drawings and pictures. It has been wonderful to observe the pride that she gains from her achievements and creations.

Nancy has excellent concentration and is able to remain focused on a self-initiated activity for an extended period of time. Nancy's confidence on the carpet has grown since the beginning of the Michaelmas term and it is so lovely to see her raise her hand and take part in the learning as she has some fantastic ideas and answers. Although she enjoys the praise she receives from her masters for her work, she seems just as rewarded by the satisfaction she gets from the process itself.

Nancy has a vivid imagination which is a joy to observe. She shows great independence in the workshops and often amazes us with the creation she produces. Nancy is flexible in the methods she uses in her learning and will work with patience to find the best ways to attempt a task, she is also beginning to learn to review her work and find new, alternative ways to develop it further. She is always to share her play with others and is a great team player, although she does struggle to pick the odd googly just when you think she has played her way in. Nancy always enjoys a challenge and is always happy to learn new things in school and share with others.

Nancy has achieved so much in the first year at school and she demonstrates excellent learning behaviours. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the best for next year. Well done Nancy, you are are ready for year one."

Bo, Bis, Bit.

I'll need another entry to talk about sportsday and her drama performances. Oh yes indeed.
